How The Game Works
By translating core elements of the global economy into familiar objects, the Global Simulation Workshop allows players of all backgrounds to act naturally, trust their instincts and work together towards a successful socio-economic future, during thirty simulated years. An experienced o.s.Earth facilitator guides participants throughout the event.
Global Dynamics
As players enter the room, they are divided randomly into twenty teams, each with its own resources and problems. Regions, corporations, and non-government organizations (NGOs) try to solve unique problems, while competing and negotiating for the valuable resources they require. Complex interdependencies mirror real-world interactions and encourage forethought, creativity, and a willingness to seize opportunities. A surprise mid-game challenge tests teams’ abilities to work together towards a collective goal.
Influence & Power
A World Span News reporter delivers live broadcasts to keep players informed of breaking news and developments. Public opinion and social capital directly result in favored trade status, boycotts, financial aid, and economic warfare. The Global Foundation team manages development and encourages a global perspective. Financial awards are given to teams that create a strong image and promote their products and services effectively. World Bank Aid offers struggling teams renewed hope.
Reflection & Analysis
The workshop concludes with final scoring, interpretation, and debriefing. The facilitator leads a thought-provoking discussion that helps participants analyze their actions and depart with valuable insights for their professional and personal lives.
