Wrap-up Disscussions

Participants often end the Workshop needing some time and guidance to reflect on the Workshop experiences. The facilitator will conduct a wrap-up discussion after the Workshop to bring out themes and lessons that emerged during the Workshop. Depending on the audience, the discussion session can last between 20 minutes to an hour.

The wrap-up discussion is usually an enjoyable and thought-provoking experience for the participants. However, sometimes the participants are just too tired or distracted to contribute to the discussion. This is especially true if your Workshop is scheduled later in the day or in the evening. Also, sometimes the participants need a little time to sort through their experiences and organize their thoughts. Sometimes they are simply shy and not used to speaking up in front of people they are not familiar with.

In those cases, it is better for educators at your institution to conduct the discussions in their classrooms or seminars, where participants may feel more comfortable sharing their thoughts and insights. To read about the different themes and lessons in the Global Simulation Workshop and how you might incorporate them into your course or lesson plan, please consult the "Educator's Guide to Post-Game Discussions" in your information packet.
